Website Template

Wix has a range of templates for you to edit and change to your own liking. After looking through the templates I found one designed for a children's charity and have decided to use that template. The template is called "Online Fundraising".

Production Considerations

With the production of my website I must consider different aspects:

• Continuity-All the content on each of the pages must be relevant and flow with each other. The information must make sense and the way it is written must not be drastically different between page to page.
• Pictures/Videos-The pictures and videos on my website must be relevant to the charity. There also needs to be sense of continuity in the pictures. 
• Cast Availability (For pictures/videos)-I will need volunteers for my pictures/videos included in my site. I must make sure I know when the cast are available and how they are going to take part in my pictures/videos.
• Correct Language-The language that my site is in must be the correct language. I will look at other charity sites to see how theirs is written.
• Target Audience-The site needs to reach out to a large amount of people in order to gain more donations for the charity.
• Purpose-The purpose of the website is to spread the word of my charity and gain donations. In the production I will need to make sure that this purpose is met.

The use of Wix for my website

In the process of the creation of my website I have decided to use a website tool named "Wix" instead of using a desktop program such as Dreamweaver. I have chosen this as after having used Dreamweaver in the past I have found Wix to be more useful and user friendly for the task I have been given. Wix has a range of templates that you can select to start of your site, I have found a Children's charity template which I have decided to use.

Self-Audit

After working with other members of my class who are also doing the same website brief and the teachers in my class I have created a self audit on my skills. From this audit I can learn which areas I need to improve and also have help from others.

On my website one of the features I would like to add would be a small video on one of the pages. This small video can include information and images on children in poverty. However in the process of creating this video I feel I may face difficulties as I haven't had much experience in filming/video editing. I could use the help of other students in my class who are creating a video task or the help of the media technicians in order to solve this problem.

Also on my website I need to take images to add to the pages. The images will serve the purpose of showing the audience what the charity is about and to draw people in, people are more likely to look at something with images rather than large amounts of text. I did take a few images in my preliminary task but I may find this one harder as it will require people to get involved (Pictures of children in poor conditions), where as in my preliminary task it was images of buildings around the school.

Website Plan

I have created a plan on my website on Microsoft Word. I have used ideas from my website research in order to influence on what my site will look like. My charity will be based on helping children in poverty and children with illnesses, just like the charities I researched. I added in features such as social networking links as all of the other charity sites had them so I thought It would be a good feature to add into my site as it will help in the advertising of the charity.
